Your child will learn about important concepts in physics which include the forces acting on an aircraft and Bernoulli's principle. They will learn answers to questions like "what is an airfoil" and "why do aircraft need certain flight controls and design features".
We will explore the technology and physics behind flight instruments and what they do including the attitude indicator, heading indicator, airspeed indicator, magnetic compass, vertical speed indicator, turn indicator, and altimeter. We will explore gyroscopes and learn about how they are used.
The students will learn the aviation phonetic alphabet and learn about communicating with ATC. We will discuss airspace limitations and rules.
Your child will learn about airport signage, markings, and lighting. We will discuss traffic patterns and airport safety.
While learning about the different layers of our atmosphere students will also have fun talking about different weather phenomena and cloud types.
The students will use different types of weather reports and flight planning tools to make an actual flight plan. This is a fun and challenging activity that improves math and reading skills.
We will discuss the different types of navigational aides pilots use when flying and important concepts like fuel consumption and ground speed calculations.
Weight and Balance
Your child will use aircraft performance charts to discover what effects weight, humidity, winds, and temperature have on aircraft performance.
Altitude effects on the body, flight illusions and other altitude related physiological concerns are just some of the topics we will cover during this session.
Crew Resource Management
Students will participate in fun team-building games all the while learning about crew dynamics, resource management, and human errors.
